Douglas Adams goes on extended lunch break
Acclaimed satirist plans to beat previous record set by publishing executive.
Douglas Adams, acclaimed author of the five-book “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” trilogy, announced Friday that he was taking an “extended lunch break” to benefit the Megadodo Endangered Species Burger Bar in Southend. Adams has long been a supporter of endangered species protection efforts, and has previously undertaken sponsored lunch breaks to benefit dolphins.
The current record for longest extended lunch break is held by Ursa Minor publishing executive Lig Lury, Jr., last seen heading towards the Lalamatine District of Light City in Ursa Minor Beta “for a quick sandwich and pint”.
Mr. Adams left for his Southend lunch break carrying only a towel and an unfinished manuscript.
